Position Summary

Anglo American plc is seeking a skilled Database Administrator to join our remote team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining our database systems to ensure optimal performance, security, and reliability. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to support data-driven decision-making and contribute to the efficiency of our operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain database systems to support business applications and analytics.
• Optimize database performance through tuning, indexing, and query optimization.
• Ensure data integrity, security, and compliance with privacy regulations.
• Develop and implement data models to support business requirements.
• Collaborate with software developers to integrate databases with applications.
• Monitor database systems for issues and perform troubleshooting as needed.
• Create and maintain documentation for database schemas, processes, and procedures.
• Perform regular backups and disaster recovery planning.

Required Qualifications

• 2 to 11 years of experience in database administration or a related field.
• Proficiency in SQL and database querying.
• Strong knowledge of database design and development.
• Experience with data modeling techniques.
• Familiarity with programming languages such as Java or Python.
• Understanding of data security and privacy regulations.
• Ability to work independently in a remote environment.

Required Education

A Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is required.

Desired Skills

• Experience with cloud-based database solutions (e.g., AWS RDS, Azure SQL).
• Knowledge of NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, Cassandra).
• Familiarity with ETL processes and tools.
• Certifications in database administration (e.g., Oracle Certified Professional, Microsoft SQL Server Certification).

Compensation & Benefits

Anglo American plc offers a competitive salary range of $63,000 to $121,000 annually, commensurate with experience. In addition, we provide a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, retirement plans, professional development opportunities, and flexible work arrangements.
