Key Responsibilities For Librarian:
- Develop and maintain library collections by selecting, acquiring, cataloguing, and managing resources
- Provide reference services to students, faculty, and staff, assisting with research inquiries and information retrieval
- Plan and conduct information literacy sessions and workshops to enhance students' research skills
- Collaborate with faculty to support curriculum development and integrate library resources into teaching and learning
- Manage electronic resources, databases, and online catalog systems
- Stay current with trends in library science and information technology to enhance library services
Required Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Library Science or Information Studies from an ALA-accredited program
- Experience working in an academic library setting, preferably in a research-intensive institution
- Strong knowledge of library systems, cataloguing standards, and information retrieval tools
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with diverse stakeholders
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
Desired Skills:
- Experience with digital library initiatives, open access resources, and scholarly communication
- Knowledge of emerging technologies and their application in library services
- Familiarity with data management, preservation, and research impact metrics
- Project management skills to lead library initiatives and coordinate outreach activities
Compensation & Benefits:
The University of Toronto offers a competitive salary range for Librarians, typically ranging from $60,000 to $80,000 per year, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
