Key Responsibilities for Building Inspector:
- Conduct thorough inspections of buildings at various stages of construction to ensure compliance with building regulations and specifications
- Identify and report any deviations from approved plans or regulations, and work closely with project teams to address issues promptly
- Review and approve construction methods, materials, and structural integrity to ensure safety and quality standards are met
- Provide guidance and advice to construction teams on building regulations, best practices, and quality control measures
- Prepare detailed inspection reports and maintain accurate records of inspections and findings
- Collaborate with architects, engineers, and contractors to resolve any non-compliance issues and ensure project progress is not hindered
Required Qualifications:
- Relevant qualifications in construction, building inspection, or a related field
- Proven experience as a building inspector or similar role within the construction industry
- In-depth knowledge of UK building regulations, construction practices, and health and safety standards
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to identify deviations from plans and specifications
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively liaise with project teams and stakeholders
Desired Skills:
- Professional certification in building inspection or a related field
- Experience using construction management software for inspections and reporting
- Knowledge of sustainability practices and energy efficiency standards in construction
- Ability to work independently and make sound decisions under pressure
- Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to resolving issues on-site
