Key Responsibilities For Civil Engineer:
- Design and oversee construction projects from conception to completion
- Conduct feasibility studies and site investigations
- Manage and coordinate project teams, subcontractors, and suppliers
- Ensure compliance with industry regulations and health & safety standards
- Monitor project progress, costs, and quality control
- Prepare engineering calculations, drawings, and specifications
- Provide technical advice and resolve design and construction issues
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field
- Chartered status with a recognised professional body (e.g. ICE, IStructE)
- Proven experience in civil engineering projects, preferably within the construction industry
- Strong knowledge of engineering principles, design standards, and construction techniques
- Proficiency in relevant software and tools (e.g. AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MS Project)
- Excellent project management and communication skills
- Valid driving licence
Desired Skills:
- Postgraduate qualification in a related field
- Experience in infrastructure projects such as highways, railways, or utilities
- Knowledge of BIM (Building Information Modelling) and sustainability practices
- Ability to lead and mentor junior engineers
- Commercial awareness and cost control skills
Compensation & Benefits:
The annual salary range for the Civil Engineer position at Balfour Beatty in Derby, East Midlands, United Kingdom is £35,000 - £45,000, depending on experience and qualifications.
