Key Responsibilities for Emergency Dispatcher:
- Answer incoming emergency calls and determine the type and urgency of the situation
- Dispatch appropriate emergency response units such as police, fire, or medical services
- Provide pre-arrival instructions to callers to assist in managing emergency situations
- Maintain accurate records of all calls and dispatch information
- Collaborate with emergency responders to ensure timely and effective assistance to those in need
- Monitor and track the status of emergency response units in the field
- Stay updated on emergency procedures and protocols to ensure compliance and efficiency

Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Completion of a recognized emergency telecommunications program or related certification
- Proficient in operating emergency dispatch systems and computer-aided dispatch software
- Strong communication skills and ability to remain calm under pressure
- Excellent multitasking and decision-making abilities
- Knowledge of emergency response procedures and protocols
- Ability to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays

Desired Skills:
- Previous experience as an emergency dispatcher or in a related role
- Additional training in emergency medical dispatch or crisis intervention
- Fluency in multiple languages to assist diverse callers
- Certification in CPR and first aid

Compensation & Benefits:
The City of Toronto offers a competitive annual salary range for Emergency Dispatchers in Winnipeg, Manitoba, ranging from $45,000 to $60,000 CAD, commensurate with experience and qualifications. In addition to salary, employees are eligible for benefits such as health and dental insurance, pension plans, paid time off, and opportunities for professional development and advancement within the organization.
