Key Responsibilities For Guidance Counselor:
- Provide individual and group counseling to students on academic, career, and personal development issues.
- Assist students in developing educational plans and setting career goals.
- Conduct assessments to identify students' strengths, weaknesses, and areas for improvement.
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and administrators to support students' academic success.
- Organize workshops and seminars on study skills, time management, and career exploration.
- Maintain accurate records of student interactions and progress.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Counseling, Psychology, Education, or a related field.
- Certification as a Guidance Counselor in Quebec.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar role within an educational setting.
- Strong knowledge of career development theories and counseling techniques.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and work with diverse student populations.
Desired Skills:
- Master's degree in Counseling or a related field.
- Experience with career assessment tools and resources.
- Familiarity with post-secondary education programs and requirements.
- Fluency in French and English.
- Experience working with students with diverse learning needs.
Compensation & Benefits:
The annual salary range for the Guidance Counselor position at BCIT in Longueuil, Quebec, is between $55,000 to $75,000 CAD, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
