Key Responsibilities for Health & Safety Officer:
- Develop and implement health and safety policies and procedures in compliance with UK regulations and Bellway's standards
- Conduct regular site inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and ensure adherence to health and safety guidelines
- Provide training to employees and contractors on health and safety practices
- Investigate accidents or near misses, and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence
- Keep up-to-date with relevant health and safety legislation and best practices
- Collaborate with project managers and site supervisors to promote a culture of safety across all projects
Required Qualifications:
- NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent in Occupational Health and Safety
- Proven experience as a Health & Safety Officer in the construction industry
- Sound knowledge of UK health and safety regulations, including CDM regulations
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Attention to detail and strong problem-solving abilities
Desired Skills:
- First Aid at Work certification
- Membership of IOSH or similar professional body
- Experience in conducting risk assessments and creating method statements
- Knowledge of environmental management systems
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
Compensation & Benefits:
The annual salary range for the Health & Safety Officer position at Bellway in Coventry, West Midlands, United Kingdom is £30,000 to £35,000, depending on experience and qualifications.
