Key Responsibilities for Health & Safety Officer:
- Develop and implement health and safety policies and procedures in line with legal requirements and industry best practices
- Conduct regular site inspections to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations
- Provide advice and guidance to site teams on health and safety matters, promoting a culture of safety awareness
- Investigate accidents and near misses, preparing reports and recommending corrective actions
- Deliver health and safety training to employees and contractors, raising awareness of risks and safe working practices
- Collaborate with project managers and site supervisors to address health and safety concerns and drive continuous improvement initiatives
Required Qualifications:
- NEBOSH General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent qualification
- Proven experience working in a health and safety role within the construction industry
- Sound knowledge of health and safety legislation, regulations, and best practices
- Strong understanding of risk assessment methodologies and incident investigation procedures
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels
Desired Skills:
- Membership of a relevant professional body such as IOSH or IIRSM
- Experience in delivering health and safety training programmes
- Familiarity with environmental management systems and sustainability practices
- Ability to analyse data and trends to drive proactive health and safety initiatives
