Key Responsibilities For Housing Officer:
- Manage a caseload of housing applications, assessing eligibility and suitability for accommodation.
- Conduct property inspections and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Provide support and advice to individuals facing homelessness or in need of housing assistance.
- Liaise with external agencies, landlords, and housing providers to secure suitable accommodation options.
- Monitor and review tenancy agreements, resolving disputes and addressing any breaches of tenancy conditions.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation, updating databases with relevant information.
- Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement housing policies and procedures in line with regulatory requirements.
Required Qualifications:
- A minimum of a Level 3 qualification in Housing or a related field.
- Previous experience working in housing management or a similar role within the public sector.
- Knowledge of housing legislation, policies, and procedures.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to engage with diverse stakeholders effectively.
- Proficiency in using IT systems and databases to manage caseloads and maintain records.
Desired Skills:
- Membership of a relevant professional body, such as the Chartered Institute of Housing.
- Experience in conducting housing needs assessments and developing housing support plans.
- Understanding of the challenges faced by vulnerable individuals and families in accessing suitable housing.
- Ability to work autonomously and make informed decisions in high-pressure situations.
Compensation & Benefits:
The salary range for the Housing Officer position at Border Force is between £25,000 to £30,000 per annum, depending on experience and qualifications.
