Key Responsibilities for Librarian:
- Manage and organize library resources including books, periodicals, electronic databases, and multimedia materials
- Assist students, faculty, and researchers in locating and accessing relevant information
- Develop and implement library programs and services to support the academic community
- Conduct research and provide reference assistance to patrons
- Catalog and classify materials using the Library of Congress classification system
- Stay current on emerging trends in library science and information management
Required Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Library Science or Information Science from an ALA-accredited program
- Strong knowledge of library operations, cataloging systems, and information retrieval methods
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
- Experience with library automation systems and digital resources
- Familiarity with academic research methodologies and scholarly communication practices
Desired Skills:
- Experience with academic library services and collections
- Proficiency in using integrated library systems and discovery tools
- Knowledge of copyright laws and intellectual property rights
- Experience with data management and research support services
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Compensation & Benefits:
The University of British Columbia offers a competitive salary range for Librarians in Airdrie, Alberta, Canada, ranging from $60,000 to $80,000 CAD per year, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
