Key Responsibilities for Payroll Specialist:
- Process and administer payroll for employees accurately and timely
- Calculate wages, deductions, and benefits; resolve any payroll discrepancies
- Prepare payroll reports for management review and audit purposes
- Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations related to payroll
- Collaborate with HR and Finance teams to streamline payroll processes
- Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll matters with professionalism
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field
- 2+ years of experience in payroll processing and administration
- Proficiency in using payroll software and MS Excel for data analysis
- Strong understanding of payroll regulations, tax laws, and compliance requirements
- Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to handle sensitive information confidentially
Desired Skills:
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation is a plus
- Experience with ADP or similar payroll processing systems
- Knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
- Strong communication skills and a customer-centric mindset
Compensation & Benefits:
The annual salary range for the Payroll Specialist position at Charles Schwab in Birmingham, Alabama, is $50,000 - $65,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
