Key Responsibilities for Payroll Specialist:
- Process and administer bi-weekly payroll for employees accurately and timely
- Ensure compliance with federal and provincial payroll regulations and company policies
- Calculate and process payroll deductions, including taxes, benefits, and garnishments
- Prepare payroll reports and reconcile payroll accounts
- Address payroll-related inquiries from employees and management
- Collaborate with HR and finance teams to streamline payroll processes and improve efficiency

Required Qualifications:
- Diploma or degree in accounting, finance, or related field
- Minimum 3 years of experience in payroll processing and administration
- Proficiency in payroll software and MS Excel
- Strong understanding of Canadian payroll regulations and tax laws
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with integrity
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills

Desired Skills:
- Certified Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) designation
- Experience with ADP Workforce Now or similar payroll systems
- Knowledge of benefits administration and pension plans
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Continuous learning mindset to stay updated on payroll best practices

Compensation & Benefits:
The annual salary range for the Payroll Specialist position at Power Corporation of Canada in Halifax, Nova Scotia, is between $50,000 to $65,000 CAD, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
