Key Responsibilities for Principal:
- Provide strategic leadership and direction to the school community, ensuring alignment with TDSB's vision, mission, and values
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the school, including academic programs, student services, and extracurricular activities
- Foster a positive and collaborative school culture that promotes student engagement, well-being, and success
- Develop and implement school improvement plans to enhance student achievement and meet provincial curriculum standards
- Build and maintain effective relationships with students, parents, staff, and community stakeholders to support a thriving school community
- Manage budgetary resources effectively and ensure compliance with TDSB policies and procedures
- Lead and support professional development initiatives for staff to enhance teaching practices and student learning outcomes
- Address and resolve issues related to student behavior, academic performance, and school safety in a timely and effective manner
Required Qualifications:
- Possess a valid Principal's Qualification Program (PQP) certification issued by the Ontario College of Teachers
- Master's degree in Education or a related field from an accredited institution
- Minimum of 5 years of teaching experience in a Canadian educational setting, with proven leadership experience
- Thorough understanding of Ontario's education system, curriculum requirements, and assessment practices
- Strong knowledge of equity, diversity, and inclusion principles to create a welcoming and inclusive school environment
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills
- Ability to effectively collaborate with diverse stakeholders and build strong community partnerships
Desired Skills:
- Experience in leading school initiatives related to student well-being, mental health, and equity
- Familiarity with educational technology tools and their integration into teaching and learning practices
- Demonstrated ability to promote innovative teaching methods and student-centered learning approaches
- Bilingual proficiency in English and French is an asset
Compensation & Benefits:
The annual salary range for the Principal position at Toronto District School Board is between $110,000 to $140,000 CAD, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
