Key Responsibilities For Property Accountant:
- Manage day-to-day accounting operations for a portfolio of properties
- Prepare and analyze financial statements for assigned properties
- Reconcile property accounts, including rent rolls, deposits, and expenses
- Monitor and analyze property budgets and report on variances
- Coordinate with property managers and external stakeholders on financial matters
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulations in the real estate industry
- Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and forecasts for properties
- Support audits and tax filings related to property accounting
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 3+ years of experience in property accounting or real estate finance
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and real estate accounting principles
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy in financial reporting
- Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Desired Skills:
- CPA or progress towards certification
- Experience with property management software (e.g., Yardi, MRI)
- Knowledge of lease accounting standards (e.g., ASC 842)
- Familiarity with financial modeling for real estate investments
- Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables and VLOOKUP
- Ability to adapt to changing regulatory requirements in the real estate industry
Compensation & Benefits:
The annual salary range for the Property Accountant position at BlackLine in Charlotte, North Carolina is $60,000 to $75,000, commensurate with experience.
