Position Summary

Basecamp is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Regulatory Legal Analyst - Compliance to join our growing legal team. As a fully remote employee, you will play a vital role in ensuring Basecamp's compliance with applicable laws and regulations, particularly in the areas of data privacy, consumer protection, and intellectual property. This position requires a strong understanding of legal research, analysis, and documentation, as well as excellent communication and collaboration skills. You will work independently from your home office, contributing to a dynamic and supportive remote work environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct legal research and analysis on relevant laws and regulations affecting Basecamp's products and services.
  • Monitor and track changes in laws and regulations related to data privacy (e.g., GDPR, CCPA), consumer protection, and intellectual property.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of compliance policies and procedures.
  • Prepare and maintain compliance documentation, including policies, procedures, and training materials.
  • Review marketing materials and product features for compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Assist in responding to regulatory inquiries and investigations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product, engineering, and marketing, to ensure compliance is integrated into all aspects of the business.
  • Stay up-to-date on industry best practices and emerging trends in compliance.
  • Participate in virtual team meetings and training sessions.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in law, political science, business administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a compliance or legal role, preferably in the technology industry.
  • Strong understanding of data privacy laws and regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA).
  • Excellent legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a remote environment.
  • Proficiency in using online legal research tools and databases.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Must reside in the United States and be authorized to work in the US.

Technical Requirements

To ensure a productive and seamless remote work experience, the following technical requirements apply:

  • Home Office Setup: A dedicated, quiet workspace free from distractions.
  • Internet Speed: Reliable high-speed internet connection with a minimum upload and download speed of 25 Mbps.
  • Equipment: A company-provided laptop and other necessary equipment (e.g., monitor, keyboard, mouse, headset). A one-time home office stipend will be provided to help set up your workspace.
  • Time Zone: While we offer flexible working hours, some overlap with US Central Time (CT) may be required for team meetings and collaboration.

Desired Skills

  • Experience with project management software.
  • Familiarity with Basecamp software.
  • Certification in compliance or data privacy (e.g., CIPP, CIPM).
  • Experience working in a fully remote environment.

Compensation & Benefits

The annual salary range for this position is $70,000 - $95,000, depending on experience and qualifications. Basecamp offers a comprehensive benefits package, including:
