Position Summary
Cloudflare is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Research Data Analyst - Data Engineering to join our growing Data team. This is a fully remote position, offering the flexibility to work from anywhere in the United States. As a Research Data Analyst - Data Engineering, you will play a crucial role in transforming raw data into actionable insights that drive strategic decision-making across the company. You will work closely with researchers, data scientists, and engineers to build and maintain data pipelines, ensure data quality, and develop analytical solutions to complex business problems.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable and reliable data pipelines to ingest, transform, and load data from various sources.
- Collaborate with researchers and data scientists to understand their data needs and translate them into efficient data solutions.
- Implement data quality checks and monitoring to ensure data accuracy and integrity.
- Develop and maintain data documentation, including data dictionaries and lineage diagrams.
- Build and maintain analytical dashboards and reports to visualize key metrics and trends.
- Conduct ad-hoc data analysis to answer business questions and provide insights to stakeholders.
- Contribute to the development and improvement of data engineering best practices.
- Participate in code reviews and knowledge sharing sessions with the team.
- Effectively communicate findings and recommendations to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in data engineering or data analysis.
- Proficiency in SQL and experience working with relational databases (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL).
- Experience with data warehousing concepts and technologies (e.g., Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift).
- Experience with data pipeline tools and technologies (e.g., Apache Airflow, Apache Spark, Kafka).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a remote team.
- Proven ability to manage time effectively and prioritize tasks in a remote work environment.
Technical Requirements
To ensure a productive and successful remote work experience, the following technical requirements must be met:
- Dedicated home office space free from distractions.
- Reliable high-speed internet connection (minimum 50 Mbps download speed, 10 Mbps upload speed).
- Company-provided laptop and necessary software.
- Ability to participate in virtual meetings and collaborate with team members across different time zones. (Core collaboration hours are Pacific Time)
Desired Skills
- Experience with Python or other scripting languages.
- Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Google Cloud Platform, Azure).
- Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Looker, Grafana).
- Experience with statistical modeling and machine learning techniques.
- Familiarity with Agile development methodologies.
- Experience working in a remote team environment.
Compensation & Benefits
Cloudflare offers a competitive salary and benefits package for this fully remote position. The annual salary range for this role is $110,000 - $150,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
