Position Summary

Hotjar is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Staff Senior Full Stack Developer with a strong focus on Frontend to join our growing team. As a fully remote member of our Engineering department, you will play a critical role in developing and maintaining key features of our product, with a primary focus on enhancing the user experience and ensuring the performance and scalability of our frontend architecture. You will work closely with product managers, designers, and other engineers in a distributed team environment to deliver impactful solutions that help our customers understand and improve their users' digital experiences. This is a fully remote position, allowing you to work from anywhere within the USA.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain high-quality, scalable, and testable frontend code using modern JavaScript frameworks (e.g., React, Vue.js, Angular).
• Collaborate with backend engineers to integrate frontend components with APIs and data services.
• Participate in code reviews, providing constructive feedback and ensuring adherence to coding standards.
• Contribute to the development of our frontend architecture and infrastructure, identifying and implementing improvements to performance, security, and maintainability.
• Work closely with product managers and designers to translate user stories and mockups into functional and visually appealing user interfaces.
• Write comprehensive unit and integration tests to ensure the quality and reliability of our code.
• Troubleshoot and debug production issues, working collaboratively with the team to resolve them quickly and effectively.
• Participate in agile development processes, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives.
• Stay up-to-date with the latest frontend technologies and trends, sharing knowledge and best practices with the team.

Required Qualifications

• 8+ years of professional software development experience with a strong focus on frontend development.
• Deep understanding of JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.
• Extensive experience with modern JavaScript frameworks such as React, Vue.js, or Angular.
• Solid understanding of responsive design principles and cross-browser compatibility.
• Experience with testing frameworks and methodologies.
• Proficiency in using version control systems (e.g., Git).
• Excellent problem-solving and debugging skills.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a remote team environment.
• Ability to work independently and manage your time effectively in a remote setting.
• Experience participating in and promoting code reviews and a culture of quality.

Technical Requirements

As a fully remote employee, you will be responsible for ensuring you have a suitable home office environment. The following technical requirements are necessary for this position:

• A dedicated and quiet workspace free from distractions.
• A reliable high-speed internet connection with a minimum upload speed of 10 Mbps and download speed of 50 Mbps.
• A modern computer with sufficient processing power and memory to handle development tasks.
• A headset with a microphone for clear communication during virtual meetings.
• Ability to work effectively during core collaboration hours, which are generally between 9 AM - 12 PM EST.

Desired Skills

• Experience with server-side technologies such as Node.js, Python, or Java.

• Familiarity with DevOps principles and practices.

Compensation & Benefits

The annual salary range for this fully remote Staff Senior Full Stack Developer - Frontend position is $160,000 - $200,000, depending on experience and location within the USA.
