Key Responsibilities for Vice Principal:
- Provide strategic leadership and support to academic departments and programs within the Surrey campus
- Collaborate with the Principal and senior leadership team to develop and implement initiatives that align with the university's strategic goals
- Oversee academic operations, faculty recruitment, curriculum development, and student services to ensure quality education delivery
- Foster a positive and inclusive campus culture that supports student success, diversity, and innovation
- Represent the university in external partnerships, community engagement activities, and academic forums
- Lead and participate in committees, task forces, and working groups to address campus-wide issues and opportunities
Required Qualifications:
- A doctoral degree in a relevant field of study from an accredited institution
- Minimum of 5 years of senior academic leadership experience in a post-secondary educational setting
- Proven track record of successful academic program development, faculty supervision, and student support services
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a collaborative and diverse environment
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and decision-making skills
- Knowledge of Canadian higher education policies, regulations, and best practices
Desired Skills:
- Experience with research grant administration and funding opportunities
- Familiarity with innovative teaching methods and technologies
- Proficiency in a second language relevant to the local community
- Knowledge of Indigenous reconciliation and decolonization principles in higher education
Compensation & Benefits:
The University of British Columbia offers a competitive salary range for the Vice Principal position, ranging from $120,000 to $150,000 CAD per year, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
