Key Responsibilities for Line Cook  
- Prepare and cook menu items in accordance with WestJet Vacations’ recipes, portion standards and food safety guidelines.  
- Operate kitchen equipment such as grills, ovens, fryers, slicers and steamers safely and efficiently.  
- Maintain a clean, organized and sanitary work station, adhering to BC Health Authority regulations and the Canada Labour Code.  
- Coordinate with the Sous Chef and other kitchen staff to ensure timely service during high‑volume periods, including breakfast, lunch, dinner and special event buffets.  
- Monitor inventory levels of perishable and non‑perishable items, report shortages, and assist with receiving and proper storage of deliveries.  
- Conduct regular quality checks on finished dishes, adjusting seasoning and presentation as needed to meet brand standards.  
- Participate in daily prep, mise en place and end‑of‑shift cleaning, including proper waste segregation and recycling.  
- Contribute to a positive team environment by communicating effectively, supporting colleagues and adhering to WestJet Vacations’ core values of safety, respect and hospitality.
Required Qualifications  
- Completion of a recognized culinary program (e.g., Red River College Culinary Arts, Vancouver Community College) or equivalent on‑the‑job training.  
- Minimum of 1‑2 years experience working as a line cook in a high‑volume hotel, resort, cruise ship or airline catering operation.  
- Valid Food Safe Level 1 certification (or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire) and knowledge of BC health and safety regulations.  
- Ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 25 kg and work in a fast‑paced kitchen environment.  
- Strong understanding of basic cooking techniques, knife skills and portion control.  
- Eligibility to work in Canada and a clear criminal record check as required by WestJet Vacations.
Desired Skills  
- Experience with international cuisines and menu development for diverse guest profiles.  
- Familiarity with inventory management software such as Kitchen CUT or Oracle Hospitality.  
- Ability to multitask and remain calm under pressure during peak service periods.  
- Excellent communication skills in English; French language ability is an asset.  
- Commitment to continuous learning, including willingness to attend internal training on sustainability and dietary accommodations.  
Compensation & Benefits  
- Competitive annual salary ranging from $38,000 to $45,000 CAD, commensurate with experience and qualifications.  
- Eligibility for WestJet Vacations’ performance‑based bonus program.
