Key Responsibilities For Welder  
- Perform welding operations on structural steel, pipe, and metal components in accordance with project drawings, specifications and applicable Canadian welding codes (CSA, AWS).  
- Set up, operate and maintain welding equipment such as SMAW, GTAW, GMAW, FCAW and plasma cutters, ensuring proper calibration and safety checks.  
- Interpret blueprints, schematics and welding symbols to determine appropriate welding techniques, filler materials and joint configurations.  
- Conduct pre‑weld inspections, fit‑up, and post‑weld visual and non‑destructive testing (NDT) to verify weld integrity and compliance with quality standards.  
- Collaborate with foremen, project engineers and other trades to coordinate work sequences, resolve technical issues and maintain project schedules.  
- Maintain a clean, organized work area and adhere to Graham Construction’s rigorous health and safety policies, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and participation in safety meetings.  
- Document work performed, material usage and inspection results in daily logs and electronic reporting systems.  
- Mentor junior welders and apprentices, providing guidance on best practices and safety procedures.
Required Qualifications  
- Red Seal certification or equivalent provincial welding certification with a valid welding licence in Quebec.  
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in structural and pipe welding within the construction industry.  
- Proven ability to read and interpret technical drawings, welding symbols and specifications.  
- Proficiency with a range of welding processes (SMAW, GTAW, GMAW, FCAW) and related equipment.  
- Knowledge of Canadian Standards Association (CSA) welding standards and Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) regulations.  
- Valid driver’s licence (Class 5) and reliable transportation to travel to job sites as required.  
- Ability to work at heights, in confined spaces and in varying weather conditions, complying with safety protocols.  
- Strong physical stamina and manual dexterity to handle heavy materials and tools for extended periods.
Desired Skills  
- Experience with automated or semi‑automated welding systems and CNC plasma cutting.  
- Certification in non‑destructive testing methods such as ultrasonic or radiographic testing.  
- Familiarity with BIM (Building Information Modeling) tools for clash detection and coordination.  
- Bilingual proficiency in English and French to facilitate communication on bilingual job sites.  
- Demonstrated record of continuous improvement initiatives or cost‑saving measures in welding operations.  
- Ability to train and supervise apprentices under the apprenticeship program guidelines.
Compensation & Benefits  
- Competitive annual salary range: $55,000 – $70,000 CAD, commensurate with experience, certifications and skill level.
