Key Responsibilities For Financial Planner - Conduct comprehensive financial needs analyses for retail and small‑business clients, identifying goals related to retirement, investment, tax planning, estate and risk management. - Develop and present customized financial plans that align with client objectives, risk tolerance and regulatory requirements. - Recommend appropriate RBC products and services, including mutual funds, GICs, RRSPs, TFSAs, mortgages and insurance solutions, while ensuring suitability and compliance with the Canadian Securities Administrators (CSA) standards. - Build and maintain long‑term relationships through regular portfolio reviews, performance reporting and proactive communication of market developments. - Collaborate with internal specialists such as investment advisors, mortgage consultants and insurance underwriters to deliver integrated wealth‑management solutions. - Stay current on industry trends, legislative changes and RBC product enhancements to provide accurate, up‑to‑date advice. - Meet or exceed individual and branch sales targets while adhering to RBC’s ethical standards and risk‑management policies. - Maintain accurate client records in RBC’s CRM system and ensure all documentation meets the requirements of the Financial Transactions and Reports Analysis Centre of Canada (FINTRAC). Required Qualifications - Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration or a related discipline; a professional designation such as CFP®, CIM® or CPA is strongly preferred. - Minimum of three (3) years of experience delivering financial planning or wealth‑management services in a Canadian banking or brokerage environment. - Current registration with the Ontario Securities Commission (OSC) or equivalent provincial regulator, and a clean regulatory record. - Proven ability to interpret and apply Canadian tax legislation, retirement planning rules and investment regulations. - Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex financial concepts in clear, client‑friendly language. - High level of integrity, client‑centric mindset and commitment to RBC’s Code of Conduct. Desired Skills - Advanced proficiency with financial planning software (e.g., MoneyGuidePro, eMoney Advisor) and Microsoft Office Suite. - Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with a track record of developing data‑driven recommendations. - Experience working with diverse client segments, including Indigenous communities and recent immigrants. - Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment while also managing an independent client book. - Fluency in French or another language spoken in the Lethbridge region is an asset.
