Key Responsibilities for Building Inspector  
- Conduct thorough inspections of residential, commercial, and institutional buildings to verify compliance with the British Columbia Building Code, municipal bylaws, and project specifications.  
- Review construction drawings, permits, and change orders, identifying discrepancies and recommending corrective actions.  
- Perform field measurements, material testing, and documentation of findings using industry‑standard tools and software.  
- Issue inspection reports, non‑conformance notices, and final occupancy certificates in a timely and accurate manner.  
- Coordinate with project managers, architects, contractors, and regulatory agencies to resolve technical issues and ensure schedule adherence.  
- Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of provincial and federal regulations, safety standards, and emerging construction technologies.  
- Participate in site safety meetings, contribute to risk assessments, and promote a culture of safety on all projects.  
- Provide mentorship and guidance to junior inspectors and field staff, fostering professional development within the team.  
Required Qualifications  
- Certificate of Qualification (C of Q) in Building Inspection, Building Code, or a related trade recognized by the BC Safety Authority.  
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience conducting building inspections on a variety of project types in British Columbia.  
- Demonstrated proficiency with the 2023 British Columbia Building Code and familiarity with the National Building Code of Canada.  
- Valid Class 5 driver’s licence and reliable transportation for travel to multiple job sites within the Richmond and Greater Vancouver area.  
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce clear, concise inspection reports.  
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet strict deadlines while maintaining high quality standards.  
Desired Skills  
- Experience using inspection management software such as iAuditor, Procore, or similar platforms.  
- Knowledge of sustainable building practices and green certification programs (LEED, BOMA).  
- Familiarity with fire protection systems, accessibility standards, and structural engineering concepts.  
- Bilingual proficiency in English and French is an asset.  
- Strong interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with diverse stakeholders.

- Competitive annual salary range: $78,000 – $95,000 CAD, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
