Key Responsibilities For Portfolio Manager  
- Lead the full investment lifecycle for a designated portfolio of public‑equity and/or private‑equity assets, including idea generation, due‑diligence, transaction execution, and ongoing monitoring.  
- Develop and maintain detailed financial models, valuation analyses, and scenario testing to support investment decisions and performance attribution.  
- Collaborate with research analysts, risk managers, and senior investment partners to ensure alignment with CPP Investments’ strategic asset‑allocation targets and risk‑budget framework.  
- Prepare and present investment theses, quarterly performance reviews, and strategic recommendations to the Investment Committee and senior leadership.  
- Oversee portfolio construction and rebalancing activities, ensuring compliance with internal guidelines, regulatory requirements, and ESG considerations.  
- Mentor junior analysts and associate staff, fostering a culture of rigorous analysis, ethical conduct, and continuous learning.  
- Interface with external managers, advisors, and corporate management teams to negotiate terms, monitor covenant compliance, and capture value‑creation opportunities.  
- Contribute to the development of sector‑specific research initiatives and thought‑leadership pieces that enhance the firm’s market insight.
Required Qualifications  
- University degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related discipline; a professional designation such as CFA, CAIA or CPA is strongly preferred.  
- Minimum of 7 years of progressive investment experience, with at least 3 years in a portfolio‑management or senior analyst role within a large institutional investor, investment bank, or private‑equity firm.  
- Demonstrated track record of generating superior risk‑adjusted returns across multiple market cycles.  
- Advanced proficiency in financial modelling, valuation techniques, and the use of Bloomberg, FactSet, Capital IQ or comparable data platforms.  
- In‑depth knowledge of Canadian securities regulations, fiduciary duties, and the CPP Investments investment policy framework.  
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex investment concepts to diverse audiences.  
- Eligibility to work in Canada without sponsorship.
Desired Skills  
- Experience managing multi‑asset portfolios that include a blend of public equities, private equity, and infrastructure assets.  
- Strong understanding of ESG integration and sustainable investing practices.  
- Proven ability to lead cross‑functional teams and manage external manager relationships.  
- Fluency in French is an asset, reflecting CPP Investments’ national mandate.  
- Advanced quantitative skills, including familiarity with statistical software (e.g., R, Python, MATLAB).

Compensation & Benefits  
- Competitive annual base salary ranging from CAD 130,000 to CAD 170,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
