Key Responsibilities For Environmental Health Officer As an Environmental Health Officer at the Civil Service in Blackpool, you will play a crucial role in protecting the health and wellbeing of the local community. Your key responsibilities will include: * Conducting inspections and investigations of food premises, public buildings, and other establishments to ensure compliance with environmental health legislation and regulations. * Providing advice and guidance to businesses and individuals on environmental health matters, including food safety, pest control, and waste management. * Investigating complaints and incidents related to environmental health, such as food poisoning outbreaks or pollution incidents. * Preparing reports and legal documents related to environmental health enforcement actions. * Working closely with other agencies and organisations, such as local authorities, the police, and the NHS, to ensure a coordinated approach to environmental health protection. * Keeping up to date with the latest developments in environmental health legislation and best practice. ## Required Qualifications * A degree in Environmental Health or a related subject, accredited by the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health (CIEH). * Registration as an Environmental Health Officer with the CIEH. * A valid UK driving licence. ## Desired Skills * Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with a wide range of stakeholders. * Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make sound judgements and take appropriate action. * Experience of working in a regulatory enforcement environment. * Knowledge of relevant environmental health legislation and regulations. * Experience of using IT systems for record keeping and reporting. ## Compensation & Benefits The Civil Service offers a competitive salary package, with an annual salary range of £28,000 - £35,000 depending on experience.
