Key Responsibilities For Quantity Surveyor As a Quantity Surveyor at Sir Robert McAlpine's Edinburgh office, you will play a crucial role in the successful delivery of our construction projects. Your primary responsibilities will include: * Preparing and managing cost estimates, budgets, and financial reports for projects. * Conducting detailed quantity take-offs from engineering drawings and specifications. * Negotiating and agreeing on contracts with subcontractors and suppliers. * Managing and monitoring project costs throughout the construction phase. * Identifying and mitigating potential cost risks and proposing cost-saving initiatives. * Liaising with project managers, engineers, architects, and other stakeholders to ensure accurate cost control. * Ensuring compliance with relevant building regulations, health and safety standards, and company procedures. * Contributing to the development of best practices and continuous improvement within the quantity surveying function. Required Qualifications * A degree in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline accredited by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS). * Membership of the RICS or working towards chartered status. * Proven experience in quantity surveying within the construction industry, preferably in a main contractor environment. * Strong analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills. * Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders. * Proficiency in using quantity surveying software and Microsoft Office Suite. Desired Skills * Experience in using BIM (Building Information Modelling) tools. * Knowledge of construction contracts and legal frameworks. * Familiarity with sustainability and environmental regulations. * Experience in managing large-scale construction projects. * A proactive and self-motivated approach to work. Compensation & Benefits Sir Robert McAlpine offers a competitive salary package commensurate with experience, ranging from £45,000 to £60,000 per annum.
