Key Responsibilities For Medical Secretary
The Medical Secretary will play a vital role in supporting our healthcare team at Lloyds Pharmacy in Southampton. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing administrative assistance to our clinicians, ensuring the smooth operation of our pharmacy, and delivering exceptional customer service to our patients. Key responsibilities will include:
    • Managing patient records and confidential documents in accordance with NHS guidelines and data protection regulations
    • Coordinating appointments, referrals, and hospital admissions
    • Preparing and distributing correspondence, reports, and other documents as required
    • Maintaining accurate and up-to-date records, both manually and electronically
    • Providing general administrative support to the pharmacy team, including answering phone calls, responding to emails, and greeting patients
    • Developing and implementing effective administrative systems and processes to improve efficiency and productivity
Required Qualifications
To be considered for this role, candidates must possess the following essential qualifications:
    • GCSEs in English and mathematics, or equivalent
    • Previous experience in a medical secretarial or administrative role, preferably within a pharmacy or healthcare setting
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with patients, clinicians, and other stakeholders
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion
Desired Skills
While not essential, the following skills and qualifications would be desirable:
    • Diploma or certificate in medical administration or a related field
    • Experience with pharmacy software and systems, such as PMR or EPS
    • Knowledge of NHS guidelines and regulations, including data protection and confidentiality
    • Ability to speak more than one language, reflecting the diverse needs of our patient population
Compensation & Benefits
In return for your hard work and dedication, Lloyds Pharmacy offers a competitive salary range of £18,000 to £22,000 per annum, depending on experience. You will also be eligible for a range of benefits, including:
